Great Leaders Are Introverts?

If you were asked to pinpoint the characteristics of a Great Business Leader would they include "shy" "quiet" and "anti-social"?

Probably not. These are not the traits we link to leadership. We're more likely to suggest our leaders are charismatic and outgoing and a social networking master.

Survey results tell us exactly that. Most of us believe extroverts make great leaders.

But when we actually look at great leaders of the past and present, an extrovert personality is more of a hindrance.

Richard Branson, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are more introvert than extrovert. They know how to perform when needed but would much prefer to be in a room on their own learning, planning and executing a business strategy.

I believe the best leaders are reluctant leaders. They don't really want to be in the limelight but are willing to step in for the benefit of others.
